Problem with first appointment

I had to either reschedule my doctor appointment for Monday or see someone in the practice other than my doctor.
Because he has an "emergency" surgery that day. I'm sorry, I don't think that word means what you think it means. If its an emergency, it should need taking care of now. If it can wait til Monday, it can wait another hour for my appointment which has been on the books for 4 weeks.
Ridiculous.
I decided to keep my time slot with the nurse practitioner. But I am seething.
