My Journal

20 Weeks, 3 Days...

I can't believe I haven't done a journal entry in 9 weeks haha. Oops!

I also can't believe that I am now half way through my pregnancy. So amazing. It is going by so incredibly fast now too, I am just thankful that I am super organised and I have pretty much bought everything we need and more! Yay!

Some quick updates - first is that we discovered last week that we are having a GIRL. Woohoo! We can now finally talk to my growing bump and refer to her AS a her and also by her name which is Emily :-) At my 13 week scan I was thinking girl based on nub theory so now that it's been confirmed I can say that for me nub theory was correct.

In other news, during our 20 week scan last week we learned a couple of things. Firstly that I have an anterior placenta and secondly that I have placenta previa. The tech at the time said it's only partial and will move up. The next day I received a call saying oops no it's complete previa and I need to go in and see the doctor on Tuesday (which is tomorrow). I was terrified. This was not news that I was expecting. It also meant that I was immediately booted out of the midwife program and birth centre I had fought so hard to get into :-( The birth centre doesn't like C-sections boo hiss haha.

Ok so that kind of sent me into a spin and since then I have been having horrific dreams which really do reflect my anxiety over all of this. Today I'm a lot calmer as there is nothing I can do until I speak with the doctor tomorrow. So until then, I wait!

More news - the day after our scan I felt my baby girl for the first time. WOAH! What an amazing yet unbelievably weird experience! haha. I was over the moon (and especially thinking it would be a while yet considering the whole anterior placenta thing). But it was undeniable. 4 little kicks/jabs in a row and then it was like she followed it up with a commando roll of sorts. SO STRANGE! My other half could feel her when she did the roll but not the kicks/jabs. But last night he felt the kicks and my gosh, what an incredibly special moment that was. We are so in love with her :-)

That's about it for now until I see the doctor tomorrow, so until then... !
