Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
By HzlGreenEyes » Posted Oct. 13, 2015 11:53am - 301 views - 5 comments

Well, this is a 1st. I've noticed a couple of weeks ago that my left hand cramped up and I couldn't open my hand and had to physically open it with my right hand. I pushed it off as a fluke.

It happened again, then again... So I researched it and it is common in pregnancy to get carpel tunnel syndrome. It isn't painful but it is beginning to get frustrating not being able to have the strength in my hands. The right side is showing signs of it now too. Oh the joys of pregnancy.

Hope you ladies are doing well. Been busy at work so I really haven't come on here.

Thank you! I will definitely look into going to the chiropractor!!

I have it not pregnant, and it gets so much worse during pregnancy, especially my left which I broke really badly 4 years ago. I second what Erica said, chiropractic care can work miracles for carpal tunnel symptoms!

Ugh, I got this too! The braces helped somewhat, but my chiropractor was actually able to help the most. I asked him on a whim because I didn't think there was much to adjust with a wrist, but apparently there was! Just in case you're looking for something to try if it gets worse.

I guess 22 weeks is the golden number then because that is where I am in this pregnancy. Thank you for the advice pbc!

I've been struggling with carpal tunnel since around 22 weeks. It was so bad I had to wear braces on both hands (awake and asleep). It let up a lot the last couple of weeks but now has come back with a vengeance. The worst part for me is the lack of feeling (can't grip things) and waking up with two hands that have fallen asleep. The only thing that helps me when I sleep is laying on my back but then again, that isn't advised after the 1st trimester (I still do it for a bit until they "wake" up). Also, being really well hydrated helps too as I think it lessens the swelling on the nerves. Hopefully yours won't get too bad.
