Anomaly scan =)) <3
By dakotagurrl » Posted Feb. 6, 2019 5:47pm - 456 views - 6 comments

So my OB appointment (yesterday) went fine. Just another appointment, really. BP was fine, as usual, he's happy with my weight gain etc., baby seemed to be happy and the heart sounded great.

I had my anomaly scan this morning. The girl was really nice. It was also 10am, so she didn't really have much time for people to piss her off before my scan lol. Anyways, she took like 120 pics, then when she was done, she showed me all the various parts and pieces. She went over the heart and diaphragm thoroughly. Fhr was 126 when she started and 149 by the time she was done. Someone wouldn't relax! But yeah, all 4 chambers present and functioning. No septal defects visible!! Yay! Then she showed me a fully formed diaphragm...it was beautiful! Obvs, she can't diagnose or state any results, so I do take it for what it's worth, but she does this for a living and I trust that what she saw (or didn't see) at the time is what it actually is. I see my OB for confirmation in 27 days. I will still be having an echo done, not sure when, but if it's not close to 30wks I will be requesting a second one, just to be 100%. Our hospital doesn't have a cardiac team, so I do need to ensure one isn't needed. Last time, I was thrown on a helicopter to get us where we needed to be becuz she came early. Luckily, I had already been seeing a team of doctors/specialists for her, so they were all aware of how things were going to be managed, and my emergency transport was ready for me (so grateful for those medics...great team!). So yeah, great day, overall. Oh, and baby is a boy! Oh yeahhh, I guessed right! I am 1 for 5! Lmfao! But seriously, what are the odds?! Boy, girl, boy, girl, boy. That's so fucked up! I guessed a boy, based on a pattern...I really had no idea. :/ Now to start the name hunt. I don't do well with boy names at all. I have a plethora of girl names, but boy names?!...maybe 3. And I can't even say I love-love them. Buuuut, the best part is, I won't have to worry too much about in-laws pawing at my baby...they favour girls over boys. Whoop Whoop!

Here's his profile, with a beautiful heart, stomach and diaphragm.

Mal, the beer thing is funny. I rarely drink, but holy fuck do I crave it when I can't have it. Congrats on having another boy! I find boys easier, in general. My daughter wants a different hairstyle everyday and wow does it eat up time (she wants the style but doesn't wanna sit still while I do it!). My boys had a shaved head (1/4-1/2" depending on the season) til they were old enough to choose...so much easier to care for!!

Ang, so I'm guessing that's ur way of saying ur trying for #6 soon-ish? That's awesome, u go girl!! xo

Thanks, ladies! =))

That’s awesome! So happy things are going so well for you. Once I saw the profile of your little man, that was my guess (boy). Very cool. Hubby wants another boy. Either way, they drive me crazy and either way, I love em lol.

So glad all is well! Congrats on the boy! We're having another boy as well. So far, I'm loving the name Eli. I also like Ethan. That's all I've got, haha. Beautiful picture!

P.S. Your mention of beer in your comment on your last post has my mouth watering. Only 6 more months until I can have one <<Inset extreme face palm here>>.

I know right?! It's kinda sad for the kids that realize there's favourtism, but it's better in the long run. They've been cutting back visits to about 2-3x/yr now, so as long as he's snuggled in my shirt, he avoids the newborn hold (which they're always too scared to ask for anyway), then they won't be back til fall or maybe even Xmas (insert angelic sounds). =))

AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! Beautiful picture, and yay a boy!! bye-bye In-laws lol My husband's fam is the opposite, so it's the same relief that they will spend less time with my kids. Sad but true. Or not sad.
Sounds like great news. Keep growing baby!!
