Only 15 days to go until my due date!

AHHH! 15 days until my due date! lol. It's coming up so quick, and although we are expecting her any day now, it's still a bit of a shock. It was just last week we got our bfp, right?! lmao.

We are about as ready for Valerie's arrival as we can be. Got the crib set up over the weekend, the house is as clean as it is going to get with a 5 year old, 1 year, and 31 year old man child (read: My husband) running about, the swing is ready, all of her clothes are washed and put away, bottles and breast pump parts are washed, sterilized, and put away, car seat base is in the van, hospital bags are packed and ready (just waiting for last minute things like camera/charger, phone chargers, etc.). I'd say we're ready. My oldest still asks every morning if today is baby day, and I tell him any day now, sissy will be here. My youngest still has no idea what's going on. I've taken to wearing a newborn size baby doll around the house in the baby carrier, to get him used to the idea. I pretend to feed the baby doll, change diapers, etc. He is no longer poking the thing in it's eyes and trying to pick it up by it's head, so that's a good thing, right? I know the doll is in no way a comparison for a crying, squirming baby but yea. It's the best we could come up with.

Both of the kids had a good time at my parents house this weekend. My oldest didn't want to leave, but that's not new at all. My parents, however, are still in denial about my oldest's behavior, even though they witnessed several meltdowns over the weekend. (They blame the medication he is on for those. >.>) We were expecting that. The meds seem to be working, although he is getting himself wound up tight and is having a little trouble finding the words to express it. His doctor told us that is normal and that he should adjust to it. I still hate giving the medication to him, but he was able to sit down and read a short book to me for the first time ever last night. No fidgeting, no getting frustrated that he couldn't sit still, no stuttering in overexcitement. He was so proud of himself for it, and to me, that makes it all worth it. I know there will still be bad days and we're ok with that. He is, after all, only 5 years old.

Afm, I had steady contractions all day yesterday. They were 10-15 minutes apart, but tapered off in the evening. Woke up this morning with a horrible case of diarrhea and more contractions. Valerie is still moving around, but her movements are lower than ever and it feels like it's sleepy movement. I just drank some cold juice to see if that wake her up before I call my doc about it. My husband thinks I'll go into labor sometime this week. I'm not holding my breath on that. =/

Thank you, ladies. My husband thinks I'm a little crazy for carrying around the baby doll. lol.
pbc, my oldest is doing really well on the medication, even though he just started it. He is now doing amazing at school and I am so proud of him. He is trying so hard.
Steph, yes, my youngest was an August 2014 baby. He was born August 1st. And my son does the same thing your daughter does. lol. Although yesterday he tried to feed it his bottle and made a HUGE mess. I had to give Baby a bath afterwards. lol.
Kitten, about 10 minutes after I drank the cold juice, Valerie started dancing around. I did call my doc and she said it sounds like the contractions are wearing her out as well as me, and if she starts feeling sluggish again, to go to the hospital. So far, so good though.

Sounds like she's coming very soon. If she stays pretty still don't wait it out just go get checked!

You're SO close!!! It sounds like you guys are all ready for Valerie!! So exciting! I'm glad your son seems to be doing well on the medication, too! Also, I believe that your youngest son was an August 2014 baby as well, right? I'm planning on getting my daughter a baby doll for Christmas to hopefully help her understand. Any time I show her one in the store, she always touches the dolls hands and feet and it just melts my heart! Then she pokes it's eye and tries to stick her finger in it's mouth, lol! I can't wait to see your future journal updates and birth announcement (hopefully soon!!!) :)

So exciting! And the doll is a clever idea! For our soon-to-be five-year-old, we're taking a big brother class thru the hospital. It's for ages 3 - 9 and they get to hold lifelike newborn dolls, help dress and change them, etc. I'm looking forward to it as much as he is.

That is a brilliant idea! I should try that with my dogs as I am very worried about their adjustment. I know it must be incredibly hard to decide to give your child medication but it sounds like it was a great decision. I would hate to do it to, hell, I hate to take it myself for anxiety but I realized that no behavioral modification or diet changes were going to help (my primary doctor thinks if I eat better my anxiety will go away). Your son reminds me a lot of my youngest stepson and it's hard dealing with all of that, trying to be a good mom, and seeing your child go through so much. It will get better!

I love that you're carrying around a baby doll to prepare your little one. That is a BRILLIANT idea! Glad your 5 year old is doing well with the medication. I'm sure it takes time. Sounds like you could be well on your way here pretty quick! Good luck!
