Colds and clothes...

So I have had this nasty cold pretty much since Valerie and I came home from the hospital. I was taking cold meds that my doctor said were safe to take while breastfeeding. I started wondering if they were causing my supply issues, so I stopped taking them 3 or 4 days ago. Good news is I started to see an increase in my pumping output last night (I got 1oz out of each breast for 2oz total, SCORE!), bad news is I am now coughing hard enough to cause me to puke after every single coughing fit. So do I stay off the meds and hopefully keep my supply up? Or do I sacrifice the supply and take the meds so I am not coughing my lungs up and then promptly puke my guts up? (Did I also mention that everytime I cough, I pee my pants? And I actually had a rather bad diarrhea accident last night while coughing? No? Well, yea. That totally happened and it was not something I want to repeat.) URGH! I hope this nastiness goes away soon. I am so tired of coughing and not being able to breathe and the runny nose and the sinus drainage and the puking because of said coughing and sinus drainage.

Valerie will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. I can't believe it. Where has time gone? She has outgrown most of her newborn size clothes, but most of her 0-3 month ones are way too big on her. Why can't baby clothes come in consistent sizes? The difference between some brands are crazy. lol.

And laundry! Omg, the laundry! I never realized how much laundry 5 people could produce in such a short amount of time. Before V was born, I could get away with doing laundry once every 4 days or so. Now I am having to do laundry every 2 or 3 days. Oi! And the washing of bottles, sippy cups, and pump parts...oh my!

I am enjoying it though, when Brandt and Valerie aren't ganging up on me with screaming contests.

Summer, I'm a stay at home mom, so laundry gives me something to do when the kids aren't ganging up on me. lol. And it is crazy! I had to start seperating me and my husband's clothes from the kids clothes. I always wash his work stuff by themselves, but the kids stuff? Oh man.

Steph, I still use the same detergent we used before. I didn't see the point of switching unless Valerie broke out. And so far, so good! And I got your messages! I appreciate you sharing your story with me!

I really hope your cold gets better soon! :( I struggled with low supply at first and when I (briefly) went back to work, I'll send you a message about it, since it's a long story! I can't believe Valerie is already 3 weeks old! Time really does fly by! I feel guilty, but my husband washes his own clothes. He didn't want to switch to a free and clear detergent when our daughter was born (which is what I started using for myself to save time doing laundry), so I told him he could wash his own clothes, lol. Also, our cat's litter box is in the laundry room and my husband isn't as particular with how often he scoops it, and my sense of smell is insane and I hate having to smell it, so I put laundry off as long as I possibly can, haha.

I do laundry either on Saturday or Sunday. It's usually 5 loads... more if I do bedding. I tell everyone that if they don't have all of their dirty clothes in the laundry baskets by the weekend, it will have to wait another week. I might have to start separating some between both days of the weekend after baby comes. It's crazy to think how much more laundry there is to do for such a tiny little human. I still haven't washed out my pump parts yet. They are even still in the plastic. I should probably get on that. I hope everyone starts feeling better soon. Sounds awful!

Sorry about your cold! Hopefully it let's up soon. Glad Valerie is doing well! Laundry is the worst!
