My Journal

Babymoon to Valdez

It occurred to me today that I never entered a journal about our babymoon. I will blame this on pregnancy brain (a good excuse at this point haha). So, here is my journal that is a little late but no less important.
Our babymoon started on Friday, August 21st. My hunny and I took off work at noon to hit the road for a camping trip for 2 (and a 1/2 LOL, our little Clover puppy had to go). The night before, we spent packing and getting the camper ready. We wanted to be able to walk out of work and hit the road. It worked out perfectly. Food was purchased, bags were packed and camper was loaded. We hooked it up to the truck and drove to work the next morning.
It was a terribly long morning watching the seconds tick by. We were both ready for vacation, especially one of such importance. When the clock finally struck noon, we walked out the door, climbed in the truck and we were on our way!
The drive to Valdez is about 6 hours (5 if you are not pregnant and do not have to use the bathroom every 15 minutes). The view was spectacular the entire drive! We stopped several times for bathroom breaks, food breaks and gas breaks. My legs needed the rest anyways. All I have to say is that I am glad that we did that trip when we did! Any farther along and I would have been HIGHLY uncomfortable. But not pregnant?!?! I would do that drive again a million times over. Simply breathe taking. Jeremy and I talked about everything. Madilynn, moving, work, camping… you name it, we discussed it.
We arrived about 6pm and began to set up camp. When I say that WE started to set up camp, I really mean him. I did what I could but my back was unhappy with me after the drive. But he was amazing and did all the hard labor. It took about an hour and then it was time to relax. We cook sausages over the fire that he built and relaxed. We had no idea what tomorrow would bring but he had no cares about that either. All we wanted was to spend time together.
By 11pm, I was utterly exhausted and we headed to bed. I woke up around 10 the next morning and cooked up some breakfast for us. Jeremy had woken up while I was still cooking. We sat by the fire, ate breakfast and then decided to go into town.
In town, we just had fun. We went shopping, to the 2 museums that they have and then sightseeing including to Old Valdez before the earthquake years back. It was amazing. I took TONS of pictures to put in and album (once I finally get one started). It was the PERFECT kind of day! We Walked the dock’s looking at the awesome boats (more like houses… dang, they were nice) and simply enjoyed each other’s company.
WE got back to camp in the evening. We decided that we were going to have a nice delicious dinner on our perfect vacation. Jeremy put together some DELICIOUS steaks, corn on the cob and I prepared a simple salad. Let me just say, he can cook an AMAZING steak. It was amazing. We sat in the camper enjoying our romantic dinner together. S’mores followed dinner along with perfectly pointless conversation.
The next morning, we had to pack up and head home. It was a short get-a-way, but it was perfect! On the drive home, we stopped for several photos of the scenic waterfalls that lines our paths home. There was more loving each other and talking about everything! I could not have asked for a more perfect time. But when I stop and think about it, how could it have not been perfect when I was with the man of MY dreams preparing for the baby of OUR dreams!

Not yet! I've always wanted to go but missed an opportunity a couple years ago. Furthest north I've managed to get is Montana.
