18 Week Anomoly Scan
By snolie14 » Posted Mar. 14, 2018 11:47am - 270 views - 4 comments

So, I had my anomaly scan today. She's measuring perfect and was moving all over the place! Great... she's developing PERFECTLY! The BIG concern though is the location of the placenta. I have partial previa and placenta accreta (possibly). I have been advised to refrain from sex (no problem, SO is working out of town) and I go back in 4 weeks. They'll monitor me every 4 weeks. The placenta could move, as it's still early. The scan shows the placenta is somewhat outside the cervix but we do not know if it's accreta at this time. They'll be prepared during delivery, which I've been told will be scheduled between 36-37 weeks. 37 weeks if everything is going well, but no later than that. So, that poses risks in of itself with preterm delivery and the possibility of time in the NICU. I am just keeping calm and praying everything works out. The doctor told me today, they will work towards not having to remove my uterus and the possibility of me hemorrhaging out. My OB she says, in her opinion, is the BEST in Columbus and she said we'll BOTH be in the best possible care.... so, if anyone wants to say a prayer... please! :-) Thx

sonata85 thank you!! My doctor and I went over her thoughts on the safest delivery method. I am confident on the surgery and recovery. I pray that everything changes for you in that you don't have previa later in in your pregnancy!

Thank you, NeoVictorianMom!! I am just focusing on being happy. I know that none of my complications affect her development at all, so I am just focusing on the positives!!

I wish you and your little girl well, and I want you to know that you both will be in my prayers.

Try to keep in mind that early full term is 36 - 37 weeks, full term is 38 - 40 weeks and 41 - 42 weeks is over full term.

Most babies born between 36 and 37 weeks do just fine and don't need the NICU. My nephew was one of them, his mom had health issues so the doc. decided to do an early c-section, they only spent and extra day in the hospital because he became jaundiced, but that was his only health issue.

I hope you stay positive and focus on her birth being at the 37 week mark and you picture both you and her happy and healthy.

I’m so glad your little girl is growing and thriving! I’m a week behind you and am having placenta issues too. As of 15 weeks it was complete previa, but like your dr mine says it’s early to be worrying and it can move up. I asked about accreta and she told me it’s really rare, and the placenta’s not touching my c-section scar so that’s a good sign. But of course I’m worried and really want to be able to have another baby after this. I’ll keep you in my prayers! <3
