32 + 2 wks - Our new growth scan, an update!
By calvingirl » Posted Nov. 8, 2018 2:31pm - 535 views - 5 comments

I just had my 32 wk growth scan and she's holding steady at 23th percentile. She was 25th last time, but it's within a margin of error. I just don't want her to drop down to 10th percentile - that's IUGR.

I just need her strong enough and healthy enough to withstand labor and delivery, as I don't want a scheduled C-section if I can help it. We make small babies, so I'm not surprised. Even with the gestational diabetes that's supposed to make BIG babies, it's apparently making NO difference in her size whatsoever. They told me to keep doing what I'm doing because my sugars are perfect, and I start twice weekly NSTs starting next Monday. I've never done that before, so we'll see what that's like. I'm torn between wanting her watched all the time and the adage that if you look for a problem long enough, you'll always find one.

New doctor is really nice and accommodating, while still seems to know what she's doing. Answered all my questions and is ok with me going for a vaginal delivery. If Baby girl fails a NST and a following bio physical profile scan, then they'll get her out early. Right now, she's about 3 1/2 lbs, so I need her to get bigger! However, she's super cute. This was the first time we got a good picture of her face and she looks like her brother Oscar, except more feminine. Idk if that's in my head though...either way, I can't wait to meet her. Induction is still planned for the day after Christmas!

Love it!! She's adorable!! I had twice weekly NSTs. They're exhausting with all the appointments. I fell asleep during mine. So glad she seems to be doing great!! 23rd % is good!! They were way off on my girls weight. 3 weeks before she was due, they said she was more than she was at birth LOL she'll be 4 months in 8 days!! I can't wait to see pics of your baby girl!!!

She is soooo cute! It's great you were able to get such a great shot of her face. I have one like that framed in my son's room and you can really tell it's "him". :)
Also so glad to hear you like your new doctor!

The twice weekly NST's are super easy. The hardest part for me was finding childcare for my oldest so often during the work day. She ended up coming with me a lot of the time. Like sonata said, it is just like the monitoring you have when you are in labor. They had me click a little button every time I felt movement so they could see how the heartbeat reacts to the baby moving. I had them done becuase I had gestational diabetes with my second. I was worried about her being big as well, but she came out weighing 7lbs 4 oz at 38 weeks with no problems related to the gestational diabetes. To this day she is a little peanut...staying around the 20th percentile for weight even though she eats a ton. The doctor said she is perfectly healthy, just petite and probably always will be. Praying for a healthy delivery and baby!

Aww what a sweet face!! As frightening as it the possibility of failing NSTs and BPPs, I feel from experience I was so much better off having the NSTs. Talk about scary--my tiny girls both failed all but one of their NSTs but always passed the BPP portion. Drinking a ton of cold water helped me get their activity levels up. The NST is no different than the monitoring you have during labor. Sometimes they would ask me to click a buzzer whenever I felt the baby move. I am praying for you, cheering so hard your girl grows and stays in until the day after Christmas.
