My Journal

Busy Week

I may be posting a few journal entries the next few days. Today I had an appointment with my endocrinologist. He is pleased with my blood sugar though I still need some adjustments, as my insulin needs are going up all the time. He basically told me that I needed to eat carbs and just try to regulate my blood sugar with insulin. I have been eating carbs, trust me--I love carbs. He also said that he probably won't see me again until 6 weeks postpartum.
Tomorrow is my OB appointment! I have been counting down the hours! I am so ready to see Maggie again! I can find her with my doppler I bought. She is an inch or so above my pubic bone and is on my left. I know it's her because I always find the "Whoosh" of the placenta and then the steady and fast "wa wa wa wa" of her heart. It won't register beats per minute just yet because of all of my extra fluff, but that's okay. So long as I can hear her. I only check once a week or so, but it is comforting.
Friday I have my first appointment with a Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor. She's the reason I shouldn't have to see my endocrinologist for a while because she should take over my diabetes care during pregnancy. I'm nervous because a) I have no idea what to expect and b) they sent me a crap ton of paperwork to fill out for the appointment which makes it seem strange. Most of my doctors are within the same hospital system and this paperwork is redundant. The MFM is also in the same hospital system--in fact her office is in the same building as my OB. I'm mostly nervous because I don't know what to expect.
Overall I'm doing well. I'm 13 weeks 2 days today. My symptoms are easing. All I ever really had was fatigue, light nausea, constipation and sore nipples/areola. My nausea is gone. The constipation is still with me. The fatigue is a little better. I have more energy but I still crash hard at night. My nipples/areola aren't as sore. It freaks me out a little for the symptoms to be going away but I keep telling myself that it is normal as you near the 2nd trimester.
We are working on Maggie's nursery. It is our office currently. 3 bookcases, 2 desks...lots to move. My husband and oldest step-son are doing that work. I will help paint when they move everything. We already have a crib. My crib bedding is due to arrive tomorrow. I've been stocking up on clothes, bibs, wipes, diapers...etc.
Anyway, I'll probably update tomorrow after my appointment! :)

Aww...yay! so glad that things are moving along and going so well for you :) I had to do a lot of paperwork too when I saw my MFM doctor and I remember it being overwhelming but you'll be in good hands I am sure :) Can't wait to hear about your OB appointment.
