Hospital Maternity Center Tour

the hospital tour went EXTREMELY well ... better than i expected. it seems they've changed alot of the rules i'd heard about.
they don't have a birth tub, neither for delivery nor for pain management. that's really the only down point.
they WILL:
let me hydrate myself and only do the IV if needed or when time comes to push. they said they would put a port in to make things easier for later but would not require me to be hooked-up to all kinds of things. also, i would need to connect to the fetal monitor every 10 minutes to check on baby and contractions... if all was well, then i could continue as i wish.
let me walk around/use the birth ball/birth bar, until time comes to push.
let me eat crackers - unless i am on medication.
immediately have skin-to-skin contact w/the baby. they can do all tests right there on my chest, except weigh/measure, and bathe.
encourage breastfeeding, access to lactation consultants.
let me have the baby in the room with me the entire time ... except for bath, pediatrician check (depending upon physician), weigh and measure. OR, if i request time alone to rest.
accept birth plans and help me maintain it ... so long as intervention isn't medically necessary.
so, overall i feel relieved. i did look at the dry-erase board and there was only one listed out of 5 that indicated pitocin. that also made me feel better.
