Hi ladies :)!

My name is Andrea and I'm 26 and my DH is 31. We met in nursing school in 2011, started dating in 2012 and married June 2016. We decided to start a family after finding out my dad has termial cancer.

I have always been a daddy's girl and struggled with the idea of pregancy during his illness, but what moved us to TTC is the idea my dad never being able to be present for his grandchildren. So we decided even if he is only present for the pregnancy that it would be worth it!!! I did miss 2 periods in january, but scans and blood work put the absence of AF due to stress (my dad was in ICU and the hospital from december to feb).

We seriously started to TTC July 2016 with OPKs and no luck until september/october with the use of preseed and diva cup! And BFP oct 16 at 9 dpo with FRER! I was 11 dpo at my frist dotctors appointment and hcg was 62 :). HCG 160 on 13 dpo and 860 at 18 dpo!

Symotom wise I have been SUPER exhausted and my boobs feel like their goign to fall off! I have already gained a cup size (SO SORE!). And the mood swings are starting lol currently 6 weeks and 3 days!! But we are super excited nonetheless!!!

We told my family with teeshirts and my dad cried he was so happy! We are planning to take him with us to our first scan <3

I serioulsy thought with all of the stress and saddness in our lives right now that we may not concieve before he passess away... But the universe had another thing coming our way!!! I feel truly blessed to be pregnant right now and can't wait to see baby for the first time next week <3

You got this ladies! Baby dust for everyone :)

Yes I'm officially due on the 23rd June but will probably be induced at 38 or 39 weeks due to my age and with my last 2 pregnancies I developed pregnancy induced hypertension towards the end of the pregnancies.
Yip definitely need to keep positive and enjoy the all the time you have with your dad. When my dad was first diagnosed they only gave him a couple of years but he fought on for an extra 4 years. I look forward to following your pregnancy journey on here xx

Congrats on your pregnancy and I'm so sorry to hear about your dad's illness. How special to be able to take your dad with you to your first scan and what a lovely idea.
My dad was terminal with cancer during my last pregnancy (unfortunately he passed when I was 4 and half months pregnant) but it was really special taking my scan pictures to show him and being able to tell him I was having a boy. The last month he wasn't really lucid due to the cancer spreading to his brain but I still went and sat and talked to his about my antamoy scan and the names I had for the baby. We used his name as our son's middle name. I show my son who's now 2 his picture and most days we talk about his grandad who's watching over him.
I hope your dad is able to hold on to met your wee one. All the best for a happy and healthy 9 months xx
