First Prenatal Appointment

I have my first prenatal appointment today with Karen Winstead, my midwife. Today, I think I will mostly fill out paperwork, start a birth plan, and start a payment plan. I'm dismayed that everything is going to cost $4,000. If we pay all by 36 weeks, we can get a discount of $1,100. This is supposed to cost less than the $5,000 deductible on my Anthem insurance if we went to a hospital. If we pre-pay, then we'll save $2000 using a birth center instead of a hospital. The thought of spending so much money is terrifying! I remember a dream I had about buying a horse that was going to cost $1800. And an older man with silver hair gave it to me. I still believe God is going to pay for it. Interestingly enough, yesterday Karen's card appeared in the bathroom of my coffee shop, and one of her pens in our cup. Maybe it's a sign.

Even so, I'm excited to drive up to Rocky Mount. I think Karen is going to draw blood and run a few tests. I'm curious to see what my HCG levels are in the blood. I have a feeling they are very good because the pregnancy tests were so dark and clear early on. I'm also curious about what she thinks about the progesterone cream I'm using twice a day.

Yesterday I felt horrible. I was so sick! I started taking Unisom doxylamine succinate. It helped a lot, but made me sleepy and cranky. I was a mess! Banged my head on the bathroom mirror, knocked a glass bottle of coffee syrup off the counter and shattered it at work, snapped at Dad when he was trying to help. I was dizzy and wobbly and queasy and grumpy. All I want to do is sleep.
