Still pregnant!

Saw a few comments and sorry to keep you hanging! I am indeed still pregnant.. Wah wah. Things have just been super busy trying to get the last few things ready for the baby, still working full-time, etc.

I had my final OB appt last Wed at 38w exactly. She didn't check me so I have no idea if I made any progress, but that's fine. We talked about my induction options again, the specifics of being GBS positive, and all that good stuff. Unless this kid really decides to make an appearance on his own in the next 48ish hours, I will be heading to the hospital at 5am on Wednesday to start the induction. Why so damn early in the morning?! I mean it's not like I am going to be getting sleep after having a newborn... do we really need to take away another night of sleep too? LOL

I am ready to be D. O. N. E. My sciatic is killing me this morning, so going to the chiropractor to see if he can give me some relief. I am also just SO sore in my pelvis. I also feel like I need a crane to roll me over in bed at night. It's so awkward! I expect to hear the *beep, beep, beep* of a heavy duty construction vehicle at times. :D

Good news is my dad arrived yesterday afternoon so we don't have to worry about calling anyone in the middle of the night or figuring out interim childcare for our older two children. He'll be here until I deliver and then my mom is coming too. My husband also wrapped up his last 24 hour shift that was before induction day so I also no longer have to worry about going into labor while he is at the station and needing to wait for him to drive home before we were able to leave for the hospital. Huge relief!

Been trying to check as many things off of our to do list as possible -- both for the baby and just general life stuff too. We got our taxes done, invitations out for our daughter's birthday party (which is 3 weeks after this baby is born... which is either brave or downright crazy, TBD!), and extra household supplies so we don't have to be running out for silly things in the immediate weeks after the baby arrives.

I am still not certain which induction route I will go. It sounds like I have 4 potential options, depending on my cervix and baby's position. 1. Pitocin 2. Break my water 3. Oral Cytotec 4. Foley bulb. Breaking my water is only an option if I am dilated enough and baby is fully engaged to prevent a cord prolapse situation. I will need to wait until Wednesday to know if that will even be an option. I had an absolutely terrible experience with pitocin with my daughter so I am super leery of it. The residents I had that day were also terrible human beings that were not on Team Erica. I summarized what happened to my OB last week and she felt terrible that this is still in my mind 4 years later. She is the provider at the hospital this Wednesday for my induction and said she will be on top of this, which does make me feel better. The oral cytotec sounds iffy because once I take it I just have to ride it out. I can't have it "turned down". The bulb intrigues me because of how much I hated pitocin, but my OB said a lot of women actually find it more uncomfortable than pitocin. Say what?! I am also not sure if having it in means I am more limited in my mobility.

In the meantime I have been trying labor stimulation techniques, which clearly have been working. LOL. Nipple stimulation, acupressure, acupuncture, lots of walking.... Nada so far, but we'll see what happens between now and Wednesday morning! I keep hoping I will wake up in the middle of the night with contractions. But either way... it's the FINAL COUNTDOWN.

Wednesday is the first day of spring, so what a lovely day to have a baby. I also think my hubs is loving the fact he'll be on paternity leave now for March Madness. HAH.

So glad to hear you got so much checked off your list before baby day! Just in case you're looking for opinions on the induction... of those options, I'd choose pitocin if you are able to confirm they will start at a super low dose and go up as slowly as possible. With your team being more informed of your desires, and it being your third baby, I think you'll have a better experience. I had a low and slow pitocin drip for my daughter (#2) and it went quickly and well... I did have an epi though, and I think I recall you saying epi's don't work well for you.
Hopefully baby comes before tomorrow so you don't have to choose! Either way I hope you and baby have a speedy, complication-free delivery and can't wait to see the announcement. =)
