My Journal

One week later

It's been a week since the NT scan and I still haven't heard from my doctor. It probably means she hasn't received the report yet, which probably means the scan was normal. I feel pretty safe in thinking that now. (Although a part of me can't help but think that files fall through cracks all the time.) I'm debating wether I'll call the clinic to see if they received the report. What I really want to know though, is when my doctor will request my Level 2 ultrasound. It's the one appointment I haven't set up yet and it's starting to make me nervous... it would have to be between Dec. 28 and Jan. 16, and the closer those dates get, the more scared I get that they will not have any space available for me. I assumed my doctor would make the request as soon as she got the report from the Genetic counselor last week, but she clearly didn't. The Genetic counselor said my doctor should wait until she got the results for the NT scan, but I don't know whether she put THAT information in her report. So technically, my doctor should get the results for the NT scan next week, and then make a request, which means I would get a phone call a couple of days later.... but I'm tired of waiting!

In other news, the pregnancy is still going well. I've gained 5-6 pounds so far, which more than I would like, but still much better than I did with my first two pregnancies, so I'll take it. My bump is getting ridiculously huge though. I'm seriously running out of flowy tops to wear at work, and some of my pants don't fit anymore. I will have to get out some of my maternity stuff over the weekend... although at this point, most of it will be too big.

I intend to spill the beans as soon as I get the call confirming the scan was normal though, because it's getting unbearable. I will stop at Michaels over the weekend to buy baby-themed cookie cutters and bake cookies that I will bring to my colleagues. I'm thinking I'll leave the cookies in a public space and email everyone to let them know they're from me, and tell them I can't wait to see if they can figure out why I felt like bringing them cookies. I also have a wine and cheese night with the girls next Friday, so I'll have to tell them, or they'll really be confused when I show up with my alcohol-free bottle of ready-to-drink fake mojito! As for our families, we're thinking of just sending them a pic of a pair of baby booties with a note saying "May 31, 2015" next to them, with the three of us in the background.

And then, we'll hope for the best. It sucks to think we'll have to go public if things go bad again, but I don't think we really have a choice this time.
