So, upon hearing we have a healthy baby, we decided to take a short trip while we still could! My doctor encourages her pregnant patients to travel abroad before week 25 in case of preterm labour - not that it's really a concern of mine, but I would hate to take the chance and feel stupid for doing so after the fact.
So we spent a week in Cayo Santa Maria as a family with some friends and their 2-year-old daughter. It was great to escape the cold (I'm in Canada, remember!) and our son had the best time playing in the sand, walking around in the kid's pool and falling in love with our friends' daughter.
I had timed the trip so I'd be back for my follow-up appointment of yesterday. Everything went well, but my fundal height is 28 cm when I'm only 24 weeks! I remember it was 21 at my 20-week appointment... my doctor didn't seem concerned - she said I was possibly just bloated - but of course I am worried. I really hope it goes back to normal in time for my next appointment...
Yesterday the contractor we hired started working in our basement, which we are finishing up due to the arrival of our second son! Our house has three bedrooms, one of which currently serves as my boyfriend's office. When the basement is finished we'll move the office down there so we can use the third bedroom for our new baby. It's so exciting! I can't wait to start working on the nursery, although we will have a lot on our plate with setting up the new office as well as a playroom in the basement. Oh well! We'll figure it out!
