Baby Shower
Very sweet, small shower attended mostly by people in my congregation. Very special lady to me hosted. Got lots of blankets, diapers, sleepers, etc.On October 9, 2011 at 34 weeks 2 days pregnant
Started Nursery & got Crib set up!
My inlaws had said they would contribute $200 to a crib for us. We had been looking for something used for that amount or a bit more and not found anything that was black (not as important) and convertible (very important to us). They came over yesterday and suprised us with a brand new crib and mattress from Sears they got for under $200 by talking to manager - it was reguarly $299 for crib plus $100 for matress. I am over the moon to be able to start doing nursery. I've attached a photo of the feature wall.On September 25, 2011 at 32 weeks 2 days pregnant
Bought Baby's First Outfit
Didn't really "buy" it, but my mother in law found the sleeper that she bought for my DH's older sister to come home from hospital in. It's white and there's a toddler talking on phone saying "Hi Daddy, I love you". It's 38 years old. Dh's sister wore it home from hospital, as did DH. DH's sister's two boy, and DH's two boys all wore it home. So carrying on the tradition, our baby will as well. I will upload a picture when I find it. I think it's a very cool tradition and I'm happy we found it!On August 10, 2011 at 25 weeks 5 days pregnant
Prental Tests: Glucose Challenge Test
Did the one hour, 50g test, passed with flying colors! At first I was concerned as my results were abnormally low, but my midwife wasn't concerned at all, she said better to be low than high, and it wasn't low enough to be hypoglycemic.

Went on Babymoon
We decided to drive from Nanaimo, BC to Seaside Oregon. On the way there we caught the Seattle Mariner's ballgame. We loved Seaside but the weather wasn't great. On a whim we headed south east to Las Vegas! What an amazing time we had. Seven states, six different hotels in seven days!! If you can drive 24 hours straight in a car with someone and still be smiling you must love them. I'm glad we went now as with the heat and walking it was a bit difficult for me, glad we didn't wait until too close to my due date.

2nd Ultrasound
I went by myself. There was a problem with the equipment, so even though my appointment was at 2:20 I didn't get in until 3! I think to make up for it she gave me an extra long look. Baby was measuring 20w1d, I was 20w4d, so pretty close. It was so neat to see the baby moving all over the place. I didn't want to see sex - I THINK when I peeked over when the screen was facing her I saw three lines...the middle line was longer...so not sure!

Felt My Baby Move for the First Time
Happened at 19 weeks on the dot! For about a week or so I THOUGHT i MIGHT be feeling the baby, but on this night I knew for sure, finally, the movements were strong enough that I knew! I couldn't stop smiling. Now they happen quite regularly, a few times a day but I feel them the most when I lie down.

I was shopping in the Bay and a salesperson asked if how I was doing, and said "look at you, you just look so cute!" referring to my belly.

Told My Boss About My Pregnancy
I went in and privately told the managing partner first. The I brought out a tray of cinnamin buns, each one had a toothpick with a little flag on the top which read "Shannon has a BUN in the OVEN!". Everyone was excited for me :)

First Ultrasound
HOLY CRAP was it hard to hold my bladder for that long! I was dying!I had to go in alone first and the tech didn't face screen to me, so I coudn't see anything She did a lot of moving the wand and typing (measuring I guess). Then she asked if my partner was in waiting room. I said yes and she went to get him. Then she turned the screen towards us and we saw it, with hearbeat blinking away! It was very still - she said it was probably sleeping. Almost at that moment, the baby woke up and started bouncing around, facing us. It was pretty cool. It bounced a few times then settled back down. <3

Announced Pregnancy to Family
I had a family supper with my mom (dad was sick), grandparents, gramma, sister and bro in law. I made a batch of cupcakes and in the frosting I put the due date on some, some were half pink, half blue with a "?", some had two pink lines like a positive pregnancy test. As people arrived I showed them "dessert" and asked what they thought it meant :) I called my dad to tell him and said "Hi Grampa" when he answered - he was so confused, he thought it was my sister calling. I said "no, it's Shannon!" and he still thought I meant my sister was pregnant, he says "Shannon, is Erin really pregnant??" Took him a while to clue in.

Heard Baby's Heartbeat for the First Time
At my second midwife appt. She asked if I wanted to try the doppler to hear h/b but warned me there was only about a 25% chance we'd hear it. Sure enough, after hearing my heartbeat, my stomach growling.....we heard it! She was SHOCKED, and said it was a very good sign. It was so fast, she estimated about 180bpm.

First Positive Pregnancy Test
I was two days late for my period. I took the test first thing in the morning and the line didn't show up in a minute or so. I hopped in the shower, very disappointed. When I got out, I checked again, and there was the line! I started shaking, couldn't beleive it. Put the test in my pocket and went downstairs and made breakfast. I had to leave before husband woke up and so I left test on my bedside table and txted him when he woke up to look :)
