On January 23, 2012 at 36 weeks 1 day pregnant
My Baby's Birthday!
After 50 hours of labor, 4 hours of pushing, 4 epidural attempts, Leah was born at 8pm at 36.1 weeks at 7lbs 4oz and 20 inches long.

Baby Dropped
I woke up with a lot of brown blood. I went into the doctor's office and I was 3 cm dilated and 100% effaced and the baby was down in my pelvis. They also did a position and growth u/s before sending me to the hospital. On this day she weight appx. 6lbs and 4oz. The bleeding has subsided, the contractions (that I haven't felt and are not painful yet) have slowed down.

Back to the Hospital
At a 33.4 weekly appt. the conducted a non stress test to reassure me that the baby's movement is okay. Well, she is great, but they noticed that I was still having contractions (I don't feel them). I was having more than I should in an hour, so they sent me to the hosptial to monitor them. I had four contractions in about 10-15 minutes (even with just taking the procardia medicine I'm on), so they gave me an injection to stop them. That worked and the contractions held slowed down to about 1 or 2 during the remainder of the two hrs. They sent me home with the same instructions.

Prental Tests: Glucose Challenge Test
The first gluclose test came back elevated on top of the preterm labor news we got on Dec. 1! So I went in to do the 3hr. test. I was dreading it, but because I was put on bedrest, I was happy to get out of the house for anything! I took my computer with me, so the three hours went by fast. My dad picked my up and he had Arby's waiting on me in the car. I scarfed that food down in probably 5 min. The results were that I do not have anything wrong with my sugar levels after all.

Prental Tests: Group B Strep Test (GBS)
They will probably check again. It came back negative, but they only check now b/c of the preterm labor situation.

Started Maternity Leave
Well, today was my first day offically off work because I am now on bedrest until baby Leah arrives, which I hope is much later.

Preterm labor scare
We are finally home from the hospital. We went in for a regular appt. and had the ultrasound to check for the position of the placenta and to check on the hemorrage and come to find out my cervix had shortened greatly, was thinning, and I was 1cm dilated. Well we were sent to the hospital and they gave me a steroid shot to boost her lung maturity and gave me a shot to stop contractions. The shot seemed to work overnight. Then in the morning I was contracting every 5 min., but I haven't felt a thing. They gave me another shot, but it did not work as well. The contractions were then anywhere from 3-6 min. apart. So they gave me an oral medication that I will continue to take every four hours until I am 36 weeks pregnant. That medication worked and I only had 1 or two more contractions after that. I have dilated anymore, so that is great. They did a fetal fibranectum (sp?) test to check for proteins on the cervix which could indicate labor occurring in the next couple of weeks

Preterm labor scare cont..
. I did test positive for that, but they sent me home anyway because all the other signs seemed promising. I will be going to the doctor once a week. My glucose level was elevated, so I will do the the 3 hours glucose screening next week to see if I do have gestational diabetes. So those are the facts, but I will do whatever I have to for my baby and I would do it again in heartbeat. I am on bedrest for the remainder of the preg. Im I going to go insane? Probably, but it is all worth it. It is way to early for her birthday.

Started Childbirth Classes
We found out today that we will have to cancel our birth class that we signed up for on Dec. 17 due to the fact that I am now on bedrest. We also have to cancel the cpr class.

I noticed Leah was kicking harder than normal, so I thought I would have Lee put his hand on my belly just in case. Sure enough she kicked hard enough for him to feel it. I was so happy.

Announced Baby's Gender to Family
My friend Sandy made us two cakes. One with pink on the inside for a girl and one with blue. After the u/s appt. we took the envelope with the babies gender outsdie to her so she would know which cake to put in our car. When we got home we cut the cake and saw the pink on the inside. I knew I was right! I felt I was having a girl since the morning after the first pregnancy test. We called my mom and dad and Lee's mom came over to get a piece of the cake. WE called and told our grandparents. We texted everybody else.

Heard Baby's Heartbeat for the First Time
I recorded the sound and pic. on my phone. The bpm was 113 which they said was great for 6 weeks 2 days.

First Ultrasound
This day was not supposed to be the first ultra sound, but I had spotting, so they checked to make sure everything was ok. The baby was fine and they were able to pin point the blood and said it was implantation bleeding.

I took a hpt at home after receiving news that my progesterone level was 23. DH was home when I did this. I saw a faint line come up and I instantly knew I was preg. The line was very faint, so dh did not see the pink line so well. We hugged and I remember saying, "Do you know what this means? I am pregnant!" He said, "I hope so." That comment aggravated me. I was expecting him to be more elated, he was trying to protect me I guess.
