3 Weeks Pregnant

Your Pregnancy Week by Week

*Counting from the first day of your last menstrual period

Your Baby at 3 Weeks

Your baby is the size of a grain of salt at 3 weeks pregnant - Pregnancy Week By Week Size: 0.01 inches (0.25 mm)
Weight: Still too small to weigh

This is a big moment for you, your partner, and for your baby-to-be! Sperm met egg and new life has been created! Your embryo doesn't resemble anything recognizable; right now it is just a group of cells rapidly growing, multiplying, and forming the foundation for your baby.

Remember that the first week of pregnancy is generally counted as the first date of your last period; ovulation generally occurs within two weeks.

Mom at 3 Weeks Pregnant

Mom at 3 weeks pregnant - Pregnancy Week By Week It is much too early for you to know that you are pregnant. You haven't yet missed your period and while your body is definitely hard at work to prepare for the task of growing new life within you, you are unlikely to feel any changes just yet!

If you have been trying to conceive then you may be tempted to rush out to buy pregnancy tests by the dozens. Save your money, for now however. The levels of hormones that pregnancy tests detect are still entirely way too low in your body for detection. Be patient!

When should you start testing for pregnancy? You want to know as early as possible, but when is that? Use the pregnancy test timing calculator to help you decide when to take your first home pregnancy test.

Common Symptoms:
It is much too early to expect to experience pregnancy symptoms. In the days after ovulation you may feel an ache or other feelings of tenderness around your ovaries; the tenderness might be primarily located on one side.

You should have already paid a visit to your gynecologist in order to ensure that you are healthy enough to go through a pregnancy. Your doctor will have run a few tests to determine whether or not you are at risk for passing on any illnesses or genetic disorders to your child. Providing your doctor will as complete of a family and personal history as possible can ensure that you and your baby-to-be receive the best there is in quality health care.

If you aren't already, then now is a good time to start taking a folic acid supplement or prenatal vitamins that contain folic acid and all of the other vitamins that an expecting body needs.

Weight Gain:
You should not expect to see any changes on the scale this week. Now is the time to modify your eating and workout habits for the better. Getting into a healthier eating and workout routine now can prove to be incredibly beneficial for both you and your baby-to-be. Talk to your doctor about any recommended lifestyle changes in order to ensure that you are providing your baby with the healthiest possible home for the next 9 months.

The healthier you are, the easier your pregnancy will be on you and the healthier your baby will be!

Tips/Advice:
Be patient. If you want to be pregnant or even if you just fear that you might be, this week just means waiting. Because it's too early for a pregnancy test to show those loved (or feared) two pink lines all you can do is wait for the days to tick by before you can know for sure.
