Q: Mucus Plug?

Can your mucus plug come out during a bowel movement? I am 34 weeks, two days pregnant. I just got done in the bathroom, I didn't check the paper, but I looked down after I got up and noticed a bunch of white stuff floating around. Looked like someone squirted lotion in there or spit a loogey... I've been home alone all day, so I know it was no one else. Is it too early to lose it?

I was going to say also that this is a common symptom of IBS. I get this from time to time even when not pregnant it comes out with the bowel movement as extra mucus but it may also not be from IBS but just simply because all that extra estrogen makes us mucus making machines. Or maybe it is Leukorrhea .. either way thought I'd offer this option as well since it sounded exactly what i have had happen during/after a bowel movement ..but i was not pregnant. Worth a mention to your doctor next appt. but I am sure its nothing too serious. :)

There is a name for this if you want to look it up, Leukorrhea, just fancy word for increased cervical fluid, the fluid is normally clear or milkly and odorless, can be mildy chunky at times but shouldn't be cottage chessy. I get the little mucousy bits in the toilet all thru my pregnancies. If you are still concerned you can doubt check with your doc since safe is always better, but I wouldn't stress based on your description :D good luck and best wishes

don't worry it doesn't sound like you lost your plug, sounds more like excess fluids and little mucous. What people don't realize is that the plug is constantly regenerating, so we lose a little now and then and that is ok. If it was the plug it is a mass of snotty thick looking mucous that is usually a little bloody. With my first I lost gobs and gobs over a few days until the full plug gave way that day I gave birth, believe me its distinctive :) no worries momma you are safe
