Q: Should I tell them on the interview?

I just graduated Nursing school in June and have my first interview today at a Dermatology office. I'm only about 6 weeks along and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences like this? Should I tell the employer during the interview? I don't want them to feel like I am hiding anything from them... any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I had to face the same thing. I decided not to tell them because:

1) I was 5 weeks which is very early
2) I didn't want to be passed over because I'm pregnant ( not supposed to happen but it does)
3) I did not get the job, but if I had it would not bother me if they "did" the math and realized that I was pregnant during the interview. After all, many women don't know that they are pregnant that early

I advise you not to tell them at the interview. Although it isn't supposed to be it can be a deciding factor whether you get a position or not. And although I'm sure everything will go fine with your pregnancy you are still in the first trimester and at risk for miscarriage. I advise you not to inform employers or future employers until 2nd trimester (14 weeks) or you show (whichever comes first). It's not a matter of honesty, but more like a need to know basis. Let them judge you for the position for which you are applying for your personality and who you are... and not as a risk or liability... I'm 20 weeks along and I lost 2 job opportunities earlier in my pregnancy when I informed the potential employers I was pregnant in final interviews... they quit contacting me.

I personally would tell them. I just would feel very dishonest keeping that to myself - and they will do the math and realize you were pregnant at the interview eventually.

don't make your decision ahead of time. see how the interview is going. i would lean toward not telling them. they are not supposed to make a decision based on things like pregnancy, but people are human, and it would be difficult for them not to take that into account. I understand wanting to be honest with them, however, your pregnancy really has nothing to do with whether you are qualified for the job.
