Q: D&C at 10 weeks, 5 weeks later still no AF. Please help.

Hello ladies, well like what I've put on the title, I had a miscarriage last 22-07. I'm supposedly 10 weeks, but the baby stop growing at 8w2d. Before that, we saw the heartbeat. It's so frustrating and depressing. Now, my question is, it's been 5 weeks since my D&C and still haven't got my period. Me and DH BD 3 weeks after my D&C w/o any protection but used the method of withdrawal (sorry for the term). Last Monday, I used HPT at early evening, and came back negative. I have some symptoms of fatigue, very sleepy, cravings, slight backache, sometimes nauseous, very lazy at times and occasional dizziness. all your opinions are all welcome. Hope you could help me out.

I had a D&C October 10, 2011 and I bled for about 2 weeks, I didn't get another period until December 17th. It takes a while for your HCG levels to start dropping, your body has to realize what happened to it, and where you were 10 weeks, it can take longer. I was 9 weeks and it seemed like my HCG levels were never going to go down. Once those levels hit 0 you'll get a period. I'm so sorry for your loss!

You could always call your doctor's office and ask them if they will do a level check, just to make sure things are going down. I started to worry like you are and I got my blood checked every week until they hit 0.

Hi monroezelda,

Thanks for your advise. That is what I'm really planning at the moment. Cause unfortunately my dr just went for a vacation. And just a while ago i'm having this very bad cramp. Like I can't stand for too long cause it really hurts, all I want is to curl down so the pain will go away. Then after a few minutes, it will be gone then it goes back again. Feels like my body is out of energy and I'm feeling light headed.

If you haven't had a period yet, and you are getting a negative pt its possible you haven't ovulated yet, I suppose if you are getting the symptoms all you could do is maybe take a test every week, or ask the dr for a blood test. I had a D&C last year, I was 11 weeks but baby had died a few weeks earlier, I had my mc 21st November and I didnt ovulate till mid January, my first period was January 21st, then my periods where irregular till april, I got my bfp In June, so just give your body a bit of time to heal and get back to normal, and I am sure you will conceive again soon. sorry for your loss, and good luck.

Hi Dientje.. thank you for your answer. Yeah, we were actually planning to have after 3 months. And we are waiting for my AF to arrive. Forgot to also inform that after the D&C i only bleed for that day and spotting for 1-2 days. Now I'm having slight cramping as well. Last night i was at the gym, when I tried to have a sit ups, my lower abdomen hurt, when i stopped, that part hardened, feels like there a big bunch that was inside and I got scared. Now I don't know if I can continue doing my routine in the gym or not.

I'm sorry for your loss *hug*
It could take as long as 8 weeks before AF arrives after a D&C, with mine AF came after about 6 weeks. So give it some time. However, since you did have unprotected sex, there is always the slight possibility that you conceived again and you might have tested too early.
You probably know that early pregnancy symptoms can be the same as the symptoms right before AF arrives. I'd advice you to just be patient, and test again next week to be sure you're not pregnant.
Lots of strength to you, I know how furstrating and painful it is. Please give your body the time it needs, and only try again when you think you are ready, both mentally and physically. If this is next month, it's okay, if it lasts longer, thats just fine too.
