Q: Beta Levels - When ?

Hi Ladies :)

It's still VERY early for me - only 4wks - but, I'm curious as to when I'm supposed to have my beta levels checked? It's seems that many women have them done earlier for various reasons.

Is this something that's typically done at the first OB appt at 8-10 wks or should I have it done sooner, due to factors noted below? :

* Pls note as I'm uncertain if this is relevant to my question - This is my first pregnancy and we've been TTC for 11 cycles with nothing but BFN. I am 37 yrs old, have a blocked left tube and IR-PCOS. *

Thank you for any and all input :)

I think OB's will only draw blood if there is a past of a problem or losses unless you ask them too. My OB did not do any bloodwork with my first pregnancy (I didn't even know it could be done! lol) and I had no problems. When I got pregnant again I made an appointment and again, no bloodwork. Then I lost the pregnancy, so the next time I got pregnant they did the bloodwork to make sure the levels were rising. I lost that one too and this time they did bloodwork every 48 hours and monitered progesterone as well until I got high enough results. So I "think" they ususally only do it if they need to monitor the levels but you can always ask for it if you like. Good Luck with everything :)

Ive been pregnant 3 times. This will be the first baby to make it.
I always got the doctor to confirm my pregnancy with a blood test right after I got me positive at home.
Your normal family doctor can track your hcg.
I personally think getting it done sooner is better. Your doctor could be like mine and only order the one blood test. I have never known my doubling times only the one reading to confirm I am pregnant.
