Q: Craving a beer!? help ladies please.

Hey ladies, i'm 28 weeks pregnant and for the last 2 weeks I have been craving a cold drink of beer! I can't get the thought of it out of my head and I swear beer is all I can smell!
Thing is, I've never been interested in drinking alcohol, before I fell pregnant I hardly even drunk and I have never touched a drop whilst being pregnant either.
I don't want to give in to this craving but its driving me crazy!
Please help ladies, why might I be craving this? Is there anything I can do to get rid of this craving- but not consume alcohol? X

Thanks ladies, your reply's are so appreciated. Kicking a craving really is difficult when you cant do much about it, I dont want to put my baby in any danger.. so I dont think having an alcoholic drink would be the best idea because as one reply said.. maybe I will want another and another. Looney- That drink does sound so satisfying! Im glad you enjoyed it. I will have a look at my local supermarket for an non-alcoholic beer and I will read the ingredients to make sure there is 0% alcohol in it. Thank you's all again. :Dx

With my last pregnancy I also craved beer. I really wasn't much of a beer drinker either before then. Maybe I would drink the neck out of one and be done. So what I did was I would open one and walk around just smelling it. It really helped me, I know it sounds weird, but just the scent of it helped me. Then I would give it to my hubby to drink.

I'd be wary that your "one beer" makes you want more and makes it harder to kick the craving for beer!

Also just a head's up that the majority of non-alcoholic beers still have alcohol...they have a small amount which is supposed to help alcoholics end their craving by just adding a touch of it to each drink. If you plan to go the non-alcoholic route make sure you buy the 0.00% beers, or at least be aware what is in it!!!

This past summer I was craving beer really bad as well. Lots of summer picnics and parties. I drank Busch NA and it's a really good NA beer. Totally helped me. :)

When the baby is born you can drink a very dark beer and it will help your milk come in :) I never drank much before I was pregnant, and never while, but once this little baby came, I had myself a dark beer. It was satisfying!

Maybe honey and bread would do the trick

I'd suggest an O'Douls as well

Absolutely do not have a beer! You have a tiny little soul expecting the very best of you - alcohol can wait. Everything that you take in, so does your little one. Who in the world would risk that? I think the idea of a non-alcoholic O'douls is just fine though. :)

Not that im trying to cause a debate on this but guidelines in the UK suggest one very occasional drink is fine. Infact some MW's suggest a glass of red wine could actually benefit you.
Anyway, not suggesting anyone drinks obviously, but I think a beer with lemonade would be fine!
