Q: When do I tell my boss?

I am 21 weeks into my pregnancy (this is my first) and I got a job 2 days ago at Wendy's. Last night was my first night working. I really need the income for as long as possible up until the baby comes because I'm a single mommy... When do you think is an appropriate time to tell my new boss that I have a Little Mikey growing in my body???

In the UK you have to inform your employer by 15 weeks before your due date. So here your employer needs to legally know about your pregnancy by the time your 25 weeks. I d check the regulations for informing your employer where you live.

I would think that at 21 weeks they will figure it out pretty quickly when you come in a bit bigger each shift!! If you are able to perform each task that your job requires they may not care since they are typically always hiring anyways. It would be more of a problem if you had a position that required a lot of time to fill and few candidates.

Try to get a feel for your manager and whether they`d prefer to be told personally by you asap or if they are easy going enough to just find out by watching the belly grow! My guess would be if you are working hard there is little they can do as if they fired you solely on pregnancy then there would be issues with labor laws.

Best of luck!!
