Q: Doppler Frustration!

9 weeks 1 days and i STILL cant find a HB. Only MY HB in the WHOLE area! I have a pretty good doppler (apparently) but still nothing. My patience is running out... Its probably too early still but I hear other women find their FHB at 8 WEEKS!? I do have symptoms, but how do we know its a real pregnancy and not a molar or non viable without anything until 12 weeks? Im so worried ill get to the awaited 12 weeks U/S and they find nothing....

When i went in for my 11wk appt, the nurse said she'd TRY to listen for a heartbeat, but usually they cant get one until the 12th week and onward. Luckily she was able to pick it up, like another poster said, right above my pelvic bone, smack dab in the middle! If the Dr's office says that, with their equipment (which im sure is better than any Doppler you buy online) they cant usually pick up the fetal heartbeat untill 12 weeks, then i would try not to worry so much! (easier said than done, I KNOW!!!)

Im from australia, when i went for my first hospital appointment at 12 weeks the midwife didnt even use the doppler, as she said it can be difficult to find even at 12 weeks, so they dont use the dopppler at 12 weeks as they dont want to freak the pregnant women out. I know its difficult not to worry...

my ob did an internal sonogram at 6 weeks. I heard the heart beat then, but it is because of the position of my uterus. Makes it easier I guess.

I was not able to detect a heartbeat with a doppler until my 16 week check (cant remember which.)
My uterus was retro verted - so tilted back, so it hid the baby and couldnt get a HB. However I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks so I did get to see it and even see her move around!
Just be patient. But ask for an US if you are SUPER worried.

Hun, don't you wait until after xmas to call her- if you want peace of mind, contact her now :) It's her job to look after you and your baby. Keep your chin up, im sure everything will be okay. I know that if you tell your midwife you are extremely worried she will do something to give you a bit of peace of mind. Dont spend christmas worried, follow your mothers instinct and call now. GL x

I have been doing it in the correct area. Ive been looking up online where to look and try etc. Im a little upset the docs make us wait until 12 weeks to see or hear anything. I am so worried ill get to that stage and my worst fears are true.

I may just call my midwife after christmas and get some peace of mind.

Where are you trying to listen to the FHB? I know, I know that question probably sounds silly but when I went for a check up with the midwife she listened to the heartbeat right down at my pubic bone, at this stage baby is still tucked away inside loads of padding in your pelvis area.. although you probs already knew that, I just thought I would mention it because when I first tried to hear my DD heartbeat I was doing it around my belly button area and she was no where near that yet but I never knew! xx

Its a Sonoline B. I picks up all my pulse and the artery swooshing etc. Im beginning to think If i do have a baby in there it may be behind all this noise..

Hi, if you don't mind me asking- what heartbeat doppler do you have? I bought one from the makers Summer and its absolutely awful! Im 34 weeks pregnant and the doppler still doesnt pick up my baby's heartbeat.. infact when baby girl kicks the doppler (she hates it on my tummy) the doppler doesnt even pick up the thumps of her kicks! Maybe its the make? Then again, it might just be a little early to be hearing the FHB.. Dont worry yourself hun :)
