my cervix was checked starting at 36 weeks when the appts got to twice a month. i know you insert your fingers and feel for softening and opening of the cervix but i am not exactly sure how to "accurately" measure what you feel. i am 38 weeks 6 days....and only a fingertip (per the md).....good luck mamas

hi sorry I have no answer but I am 34 weeks today, and haven't had my check yet, from what I remember with my others it was only done with baby number 1 when I got to 40 weeks. the other 2 were elective sections at 39 plus 4 so wasnt done then. I would be too scared to do it myself, but good luck..
