We started buying the big stuff and a few small things when we found out we were having a baby and that we weren't having an ectopic pregnancy which was around 8 weeks. Now all we need is the stroller/car seat, clothes, bottles, and breast pump.

I started buying around 24 weeks. Around 28 weeks I went on a spending spree and got my son a lot of stuff. I had bought a couple outfits after finding out I was having a boy. I bought slowly and spread the items apart. I'm 32 weeks now and have about half of everything I will need. I'm waiting until my baby sprinkle at 36 weeks. I would start buying some things now and if you're having a baby shower, I'd wait to buy the clothes because people will get you soooo many of those. I know it's so tempting.

I am in week 19 and started to purchase things two weeks ago. I started with cloth, bath, bottles, baby carrier, nursing pillow and today I have ordered car seat. A really big things like baby crib will be purchased at 30-32 weeks.

This is my first baby and I've been buying baby things since the day I found out I was pregnant. I wanted to be able to spread the money out over several months instead of all at once having to drop hundreds of dollars. Also, I've been buying things when on sale. I'm 30 weeks and we have a crib, stroller, playpen, bouncy chair, tonnes of clothes, receiving blankets, toys and I'm going to buy a carseat soon. My parents bought us the crib and some other things. I've been buying most things myself though because I'm not counting on getting many baby presents from others.

Now is probably about the time to start looking into setting up a registry and researching what brands of car seat/crib/bottles you want to use. You don't want to wait too late like I did with my first - I had a couple showers and was waiting until after the last one (which was scheduled for when I was about 35 weeks) to get all the final stuff - well baby was born at 34 weeks 5 days and we didn't even have a crib mattress, so it was a scramble to get everything! lol! I'm trying to have everything ready at around 32 weeks this time just in case baby #2 decides to make an early appearance as well!

Anyway, starting to buy things between 25 and 30 weeks seems totally reasonable to me!

I purchased the car seat at 4 months just in case. I bought the crib and furniture around 7 months. The rest of the stuff I bought after my shower, in the last month. Good luck! I had a girl too!
