Q: Any advice in helping supplement your income if staying home after baby???

Both my hubs and I work full time currently but I really want to stay home for at least a year when the baby comes. I'm only 6 weeks along now. Does anyone have any tips on how to supplement your income (at least a little) while staying home. My work won't offer me a from home position for the year which I would do in a heart beat but since they won't I'm wondering how else I could at least help bring home a little bit (spending money for us) while home.
Thanks!!!

Not sure where you are from, but what about Tastefully Simple, or Tupperware, Avon, Mary Kay, Cookie Lee, Premier Jewelry...any of those selling product type gigs? Just a thought.

blossome,
I'm interested in supplementing our income through taking classes! I'd like to know more about how it works. Where did your financial aid come from? I'm assuming 6 hours (2 classes) is the minimum in order to receive aid? Do you have to take summer classes? Is this a track for a degree or continuing education?
Sorry for all the questions... I'm 6 wks pregnant and trying to find any and all opportunities so I'll be able to stay at home with our little one :)

Well, I don't know if this would work wherever you live, but an excellent supplement to our income has actually been me attending community college online. I take two classes a semester, all online, and receive financial aid for them. Since my classes amount to about $500 with books, and my financial aid is close to $8000 a semester, it's effectively a $7500 boost at the beginning of the Spring and Fall semesters. You receive the extra money (Usually a Pell Grant, and loans only if you want them) direct deposited to your bank account, for use as living expenses while attending college. The classes take less than 3 hours of work a week, during which I can stay home with the kids. It has helped us out tremendously in the past, and this Fall's disbursement is actually going to be just in time for the birth of our twins boys. :3 I hope this helps you some!
