Q: Not a question: Just a heads up for those not wanting to know gender

Okay, so I'm 20 weeks and DID NOT want to know the gender as this is my last pregnancy and I wanted to be totally surprised. So, I went for my scan and made it crystal clear right off the bat and it was hard not to ask questions but I made it through without knowing. Then came the follow up with the doctor to discuss things. She put the sheet down in front of me and I quickly turned and she said, "Oh you don't want to know right?" I said yes, and she scratched out the sex. So that was great. Then she was struggling to find it's heartbeat and kept calling it a little horsey (which seemed a little masculine to me lol) then when baby finally stopped moving around she said, "Ha, there he is" and my husband and I just stared in disbelief. How could she mess that up for us? So I said, do you usually call all babies "he" and she said no, she just calls them "baby". So I said, "well, you just said him, so I guess we know what we're having&

Part 2- and she looked like she saw a ghost and started going on and on that she didn't mean 'he' and bla bla bla. I could tell that she was back peddling and I just knew we were having a boy. I said, "Well, now we have to know because I'm going leave here really believing in my heart that it's a boy after you just said 'he'.". She said, "I'm not saying it's a boy". I said, "Yes but I think it is a boy now because of the 'he' remark and of course you aren't going to admit a slip up lol". So she said, "Okay, do you want know for sure then?" I said, "well no lol, but I know it's a boy so we might as well just see it on paper". She said, "Ooookay.....actually....it'a a girl!" DH and I cried like babies lol, we secretly wanted a girl so it was just what we needed to hear. So, the moral of the story here is DO NOT listen to the he/she slip ups, they mean NOTHING. Do not do what I did lol. I pray the rest of you make it to

Ya our ultrasound lady warned us in advance that they call all babies "he" boy or not. We managed to get through the appointment without finding out but I really think that is luck for a lot of people. Congrats on baby girl though :) How exciting!

Is it really that big of a deal? I don't understand those who do not want to be prepared for whatever gender their child is.

Thank you for this story-I think we will agree off the bat to use "he" regardless of gender so the surprise isn't ruined until we're ready to find out at the gender reveal!

That stinks! I'm sure your Dr. didn't want you think it was a boy or think that she let it slip so she wanted to tell you! at my office if you don't want to know they don't write it down.so if you change your mind your out of luck without another ultrasound. But I guess that way they don't accidentally tell you. Congrats on your little girl:)
