I agree with stephpan....here in Canada, it is also illegal for an employer to fire you because you are pregnant, and you are not obligated to tell them you are pregnant. Definitely talk to your union representative - I'm sure they've encountered situations like this before, and may have some good advice for you. Congratulations on your pregnancy :)

While it is illegal to fire you for being or becoming pregnant, sadly, it happens all the time and if you are still in your probation period it's very possible that you could be let go. It's too hard to prove in court that you were fired for being pregnant and employers know that. Once you are officially hired it will much harder for them to fire you without good reason so you will be good to go at that point. So, my advice to you is to keep it quiet until you are past probation and over the 20 week mark. You are not obligated in any way to tell anybody about your pregnancy this soon so don't worry about that.

Check your state laws. Florida recently passed one that allows the employer to discriminate against a pregnant woman, but I think that's only if the pregnancy is going to prevent you from being able to do your job. Like if you were working in a factory or a field that requires heavy lifting.

I'm not sure where you live - but in the US for them to fire you because you are pregnant is illegal. You aren't required to tell them you are pregnant - but it might be a good idea to tell them before you start showing too much.
