Q: Same coworker being super rude/mean!

Coworker: "You're getting really fat. You shouldn't look like that already." Me: "It's not fat, I'm pregnant. I've gained maybe 2 pounds." Coworker: "Well I was really skinny with my first and I wore my regular clothes until 7 months." Me: "Good for you."

What the hell?! I'm 17 weeks. I'm not huge but yes, I'm starting to show. Geeze....I thought I looked cute today until she went and made me feel awful AGAIN. Every time she sees me she makes some disparaging comment. I don't know how to deal with her except to avoid her entirely which isn't always possible.

Honey, I've gained 3 lbs and I'm only in my 7th week! Lol.
Sounds to me like she's jealous of something! I'd ask her what exactly she is trying to prove with her comments about how perfect she is? Then I'd probably tell her where to go.

That's the great thing about being pregnant. If you flip out and scream at someone, everyone just chalks it up to hormones and vows to tread more carefully around you. lol But you sure get your point across....

Wow, what a B**** this woman is being to you. I had a similar experience at my job with my first pregnancy. One of my coworkers was constantly making comments about my weight and was even doing some name calling. She thought that she was being funny. I am not entirely sure if she even realized how incredibly rude and insensitive she was being. One afternoon, we were in the lobby of my work with several other coworkers and she started in on me again. I just totally lost it. I told her how rude she was being and asked her how would she like it if I started calling her big fat a**. I went on a rant about how people should not say inappropriate things to a pregnant woman, then I walked out of the lobby. She never said anything negative to me again, and my coworkers never brought up the incident. I think you have to put your foot down and let her know that you will not tolerate her comments. I am sure that you are absolutely beautiful, and I agree that she is probably just jealous.

Wow...seems like this lady is constantly in a bad mood and wants to make sure everyone else is too! You look great and not fat at all!!! It's hard to work in a small company because even though a complaint is supposed to be confidential, it still always seems to make it around the office one way or another. It wouldn't hurt to have a talk with your manager though. What she is doing is wrong and I agree with others that she sounds like she is jealous. Again, you look great...you look obviously pregnant and not fat. Hope things get better at work for you soon or at least she stays away from you!

That's what kills me. If you can't say it or won't say it to a person who isn't pregnant, why do people think it's ok to say it when you are pregnant? It's hard enough watching your weight climb without people making you feel bad about it! You have all inspired me to be more assertive next time and flat out tell her I find her comments rude and want them to stop. After that I feel like I have a good case to go to HR (we don't actually have an "HR" because we're so small but I'm close with the president so I guess I'll chat with him). I want to be able to say I did what I could to stop it first but it's really hard for me to tell someone I have to deal with every day that their behavior is inappropriate. It will be awkward for sure but you are all right-I don't deserve to be treated that way. I've done nothing wrong!

I hate that people always say:- your so big, your so small, are you carrying twins, i wasn't this and that. It is so annoying everyone is different. Your baby bump is perfect. I would absolutely tell her she is being rude and making you feel uncomfortable. I would also do it in front of people and make her feel uncomfortable. Everyone will agree with you and if she carries on file a complaint. Or failing that when you next see her tell her she looks fat.

What the hell?! That woman sounds like a miserable b****! To me it seems like she envys your pregnancy & wants you to feel bad to make her twisted mind feel better. I would def file a harassment report on her. She is bothering you & you feel uncomfortable. If she says another rude comment I would say, "Hm, sounds like a personal problem, for you." & leave it at that. Goodluck xo

I went and looked at your pictures, and i think you look beautiful! NOT fat at all! I'm a lot heavier than you are and i'm not as far along. If you're still not sure about reporting her, think of it this way. What if she were a man, making comments to a female employee about her weight and appearance? How long do you think that would go on before the shit hit the fan at that company? I think her comments have nothing to do with your actual appearance, and more to do with some personal thing she has against you and she's just using the situation to voice her negativity towards you. Report her for sure!
