Q: Marijuana & Pregnancy

I went for my first prenatal appointment, and for whatever reason they did a drug panel with my blood work. I smoked marijuana one time about 6 weeks ago (the day before I found out i was pregnant) I am now 9 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I tested positive for marijuana...I know my baby will be ok because it was only one time, my question is will they test me every single time I go to an OB appt? I mean it's fine if they do, I just don't like being treated like a "Drug addict" they even put in my notes that I'm a "Cannabis addict" I am so furious

I'd be afraid of getting locked up. Some states will force you to go to inpatient rehab if they think you might be a drug user, which is allowed under their fetal protection laws.
Here's a link to a story about a woman who was locked up for two months, NEVER failed a drug test, just told her doctor that a year before she got pregnant she kicked a short term pill problem. Lost her job and everything because she was gone for two months.

Okay, you have you opinion & I have mine, but I used it for my nausea my whole entire pregnancy & 9 months later I gave birth to a beautiful & healthy baby girl, 7pounds 5ounces, natural birth, drug free ;). And if you ask me, I think the use of marijuana for pain and nausea is way better then popping pills.

I smoked a little marijuana to help my nausea my entire pregnancy & my doctor didn't say a thing about it being in my system. They don't care about marijuana since many moms use it as a substitute to anti nausea pills. It also has no effect to the fetus so they have nothing to be concerned about.

Yes, my dr that delivered my first baby told me she started doing drug testing w/o consent when she had a patient give birth to a baby addicted to cocaine. Baby also had defects from exposure. Dr never knew that mom was a drug user. Sad. I didn't care that they had drug tested me, I just wish they had told me.
