Q: Any mothers planning to breastfeed and smoke MJ?

Hey ladies!
I'm sure some of you out there indulged in some bud before your pregnancies, and are DYING to start back up, like me, are you waiting till after you're done breastfeeding? Or will you start up once your little one is born?
In MY opinion, marijuana is completely safe. And although some THC will pass through my breast milk, I believe it can be nothing but beneficial. And I do plan on smoking the moment my baby takes a nap when I bring him/her home.
It'll make me a calmer mother, and who knows, maybe the THC will make my baby calmer and more content.

What're your opinions on this matter?
Have you smoked during breastfeeding with your previous children? How did they turn out, perfectly normal?

Please no hate, this is just an opinion based poll!

I believe it is completely safe its its leaves less effects on your body then Tylenol and in no way possible can it make the baby have a reaction to the thc unless you INGEST IT and long as its smoke im positive the child will be fine

and also to the lady that mentioned alcoholism your dumb the effects of the 2 are no where near close to comparison !

I started to read through the comments before I posted an answer but I really couldn't even get through them.

I'd say you should avoid MJ while breastfeeding. If anything avoid it for the first 4 weeks so you can breastfeed your baby then switch to formula feeding so you can use MJ as you see fit, or as needed for your medical problems. Not all parents can or choose to breastfeed and my twin brother and I as well as my baby brother were all formula fed our entire infancy.

Smoking pot does not make you a bad parent but breastfeeding your baby with the drug in your system does. You've done the right thing by stopping while pregnant but if you're really craving it as it sounds then you may have a substance abuse or addiction problem that you may want to look into fixing.

I wish you an your baby the best! If you're unsure, ask your doctor or pediatrician about it for some professional advice.

yes i know smoking it is bad for lungs, but no one said i was smoking it. Yes, I used marijuana during my pregnancy for my nausea, & thank god because without it i would have been in the hospital the entire 9 months due to dehydration. My two step kids, who are 6 and 4 are above average in school/preschool! Both pregnancy's, marijuana was used. Other cultures have been using it for 1000's of years, honestly i could go on and onnn but i could really care less what you guys have to say, have fun yakkin your brains out on here, I need to tend to my family & do my "druggss" lmao.

Just the actually smoking element and the damage it does via third hand smoke to a baby is enough to say no- have a read online at various sources. I wouldn't take anything whilst breastfeeding, including smoking.

Also there is a psychological element to this. As in you don't know what your baby will be able to cope with mentally if chemicals go through the breastmilk and mj does have a damaging psychological impact for some people let alone babies.

I have seen people destroyed by it. I appreciate people have different reactions and i'm not anti people making their own choices, but at the same time, it is not giving your baby a choice.

I would wait until you have finished breast feeding or consider formula.

Obviously, you already know the real answer to your question is NO..its not a good thing or smart thing to do while breast feeding or even being around your baby. For instance, as you asking ''Have you smoked during breastfeeding with your previous children? How did they turn out, perfectly normal?''...shows you don't care too much on what the effects are! Because honestly, why would you even suggest about the baby being 'normal' or not...if you are thinking its perfectly fine?? You don't make any sense, and don't seem to have common sense either because you are contradicting your own self.

You should ask your doctor. I'd love to see the expression on his/her face :) Especially if you live in a state where mj hasn't been legalized.

So you are not on a prescribed medication for this? You shouldn't be doing it.
