Q: If you and DH both work, what routine have you set when you both are back to work?

Will you trade off on who gets up overnight?

My husband says he will take overnights Thursday through Saturday....but thats when he doesnt work. So he basically established that when HE works he wont be getting up to help. So his sleep is more important? I have to try to sleep, get 2 kids to school and daycare, work all day teaching, pick up both kids and get home. You would think we should share overnight baby feedings all week. I guess i have to wait until the weekends to get any sleep?

Whats your plan if both you and DH are full time working out of the house?

We both work out of the home. I'm a nurse and the hubby is an air traffic controller. We have both talked about it and we've decided to not make a plan. Unfortunately you can't really have a set plan with babies because on your night they might wake up 6 times and then not wake up once on his night, so that obviously isn't fair to either. We decided to play everything by ear and take one night at a time. Having two working parents is just so difficult and I hope once the baby gets here DH will be more helpful to you. Good luck :)

We both work full time (and I'm a teacher too) and we just take it one day at a time. When she was younger and needed night feedings, we'd just rotate (or if one of us was tired or sick the other would compensate). It wasn't always perfect, but it worked.

She is 18 months now so that's not a big problem. I have to be at work earlier, so he's in charge of getting her to daycare in the morning (but I'll pack her lunch and lay out her clothes before i leave for work). I pick her up and get dinner ready because I get home sooner. Sometimes, she still wakes up in the middle of the night, so as far as the night shift, it just depends. Lately, since I've been tired with this pregnancy, he'll just go rock her for a few minutes and she'll go back to sleep. I know he's getting up with her more frequently than I am at the moment, but on the weekends, I try to make up for it by letting him sleep in. It's all about compromise:-)
