Q: Sex!!

I'm wondering when it's safe to have sex??
I had my baby 10 days ago by c section under general anastethic, I had complete placenta previa and accreta, I also was sterilised while under! I'm feeling good not much pain now I have no lochia, iv been on pelvic rest since 27weeks of pregnancy due to the previa, haven't had sex in 13 weeks in total and really feeling the urge! Do you think it will be ok? X

I'm lucky candy I didn't have bleeding I had spotting for the first day n that was it, apparently when I was under anastethic they cleared everything out n that's why I didn't bleed, I'm going to wait though just incase as I really don't want an infection down there, thanks ladies x

Hi Hun. My OB insisted not to have sex for at least 6 weeks after the c-section. As another member mentioned it is major surgery. My advise is to wait it out to avoid infection to allow the bleeding to subside and just to avoid any discomfort that might occur from having sex. Def give your doctor a call. Each person is different and we all heal at different speeds. Good luck hunny. :)

He did give me some do's n dont's like I'm not allowed to drive for 6 weeks minimum, no hoovering or heavy lifting iv to take it easy just never mentioned sex, this was my 3rd c section eag, I can't remember that far back my girls are 13 and 10 n now have my boy who's 10 days lol big age gap x

I just had my second c section & with both surgeries I started doing too much too soon & pulled stitches - which just sets back the healing process. Also, I overdid it with my 2 yr old a week ago (nearly 6 wks post partum) & started bleeding again. I would wait the 6 weeks, then have at it! :)

Sorry, I just assumed! It's pretty standard for doctors to give the 6 week minimum pelvic rest after delivery, even c-section. I would ask your doctor just to be on the safe side though! I know it's rough...especially when you feel like things are mended down there (or your c-section incision). Don't risk it though, ask the doc first!

Hey Jen the doctor didn't give me a time frame he didn't even mention sex that's why I was asking lol x

You just had major surgery...why not follow doctor's orders and play it safe? You'll have plenty of time for sex after your healed.

Keep in mind that the 6 week rule is also to give your cervix time to close. If you have sex before that, you do run the risk of introducing bacteria & getting a uterine infection.

Hey lyssa I got my tubes tied while they were in there :) my partner is petrified to touch me incase he does any damage me but it's been a long long time lol x
