Q: How long after a membrane sweep?

I was checked today and was a good solid 1-2 so I had my membranes swept. I also had my cervix pulled forward because it was still very posterior. I was told they could feel my bag of water and his head. How long after this did you experience labor? I know everyone is different, just kind of curious though!

In my case, I was just sure that it wasn't going to make a difference for me as I wasn't experiencing anything that indicated labor was picking up. I went to the bathroom and felt a second trickle after I'd done my business that totally confused me. It wasn't the gush I'd had with my ds, but it wa definitely not pee. I went ahead and went to the hospital and the nurse insisted I wasn't leaking amniotic fluid, but I knew for sure I was as there was clear fluid with streaks of blood. This was late at night - probably close to midnight. I didn't see a doctor until morning who determined my water had ruptured, but it was just a small break, so the leaking was minimal in comparison. I don't know if it happened that way because of the membrane sweep or what, but that was my experience. I was in active, but bearable labor all throughout the night. A very nice labor compared to my induction with my ds pain-wise.

Day-um! U ladies are lucky lol! I had a stretch & sweep done with my daughter at 40wks, and still had to be induced 8 days later. Hopefully it works better for u than it did for me!
Good luck! =))

My midwife told me that labor will kick start (after a stretch and sweep) if your body is ready to go into labor (i.e. baba is ready to be born). I had two stretch and sweeps and nothing happened...one at 38 weeks and one at 39 weeks. I went into labor spontaneously on my due date (which was 40 weeks).

I had mine stripped 3 times with my first son. Still ended up being induced 4 days after the 3rd sweep.
