Q: NST

Starting at my appointment next week, I have to have weekly NSTs due to gestational diabetes. I was just wondering what all goes on during a NST and how long does it usually take? My husband can't get that day off of work, so I'm just wondering about how long I need to tell my babysitter that I am going to be gone. Thanks in advance!

I agree with Mommybutterfly. I had to do weekly NSTs starting at 30 weeks and mine ranged from 20 minutes to an hour as well. If you can try to eat and drink something before it usually goes quicker. It gives the baby some food and usually makes them more active so the NST doesn't take as long. My OB's office also had snacks and juice for me to choose from as well.

My he time varies from 20 minutes to an hour. They monitor the baby. Heart rate how active baby is being and if you are having contractions. It's nothing painful so don't worry too much
