Q: Successful pregnancys after blighted ovum? I need some hope.

Hello Ladies,
I'm 4 weeks 1 day. I had a D&C back in October due to a blighted ovum. I didn't have any negative symptoms that would make me believe it was going to be an unsuccessful pregnancy so I was devastated when I got the ultrasound and I had a gestational sac and no baby.
So this time when I called the doctor I said I would like to come in early..they said no because seeing me early won't help anything, but they are sending me for by pre-natal blood testing before my 8 weeks appointment. That way if I have low progesterone or something they can give me that.

Does anyone have experience with a blighted ovum and had a successful pregnancy after that? I just need some hope. My husband and I aren't letting ourselves get excited at all about this incase we have another loss.
Thanks and happy 9 months to all!

I went through 3 early natural losses where I never made it to the 1st ultrasound so I'm not sure if they were blighted ovum losses or not. But I did have a blighted ovum during my successful pregnancy. Yes, I said during! My pregnancy started as twins. I had 2 gestational sacs, 2 yolk sacs, but only 1 baby and heartbeat. The 2nd sac was there at my 6 and 7 week ultrasound but my body had naturally absorbed it by my 12 week ultrasound. So can you have a normal, healthy, unaffected pregnancy after a blighted ovum? Or even during :-) ? Absolutely!

Hi, I don't know if this will help you at all but i am in EXACTLY the same situation as you. I had a blighted ovum in Decumber and I found out two weeks ago that I am pregnant again. I'm trying my hardest not to get excited or attached but it is so hard. Im sorry this wasn't helpful I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I'll be praying for the both of us!
