I have slowly started....we have been fortunate to be given clothing, diaper bags, etc from friends of ours. But I bought a package of diapers because I know they are costly and I'd rather have too many that not enough. Last thing a new mom wants to do is be running out at midnight because they are a diaper short ;)

I started right away . I figured even if I miscarried, we would try again and still need some of the gender neutral stuff that I had bought so I went for it and started buying early

You can start whenever you feel comfortable with the pregnancy. Some people start as soon as they get a bfp but most people wait til after the first trimester when the miscarriage risk goes way down. Having to return stuff after a loss could be rough! Personally I waited til 6 months when I reached viability to buy anything because I had 3 miscarriages prior to having my daughter. Even waiting til 6 months I had plenty of time to buy everything, start and finish the nursery, plan a baby shower, pack my hospital bags, etc.
