Q: 24Hour Urine Test

I did a 24 hour urine test at 17 weeks and got a call this morning saying there was quite a bit of protein in my urine that they were gonna refer me to a specalist. What could cause this? I've had Yeast infection and i believe UTI during the pregnancy but they are not testing for it they just wanna refer me. Should i be concerned? Is it gonna hurt my baby? Doc said she doesnt think its Pre-eclampsia. My bp is great but i have pre diabetes and back in Dec i had gestational diabetes when i lost that baby. I'm so worried im gonna lose my lil baby

Pre-eclampsia tends to occur later in pregnancy and that's a big reason they check protein. My protein levels were elevated on and off throughout my pregnancy and they always told me it was nothing to be worried about since everything else was looking good. I did end up getting pre-eclampsia but only after I delivered! UTIs and other similar things can sometimes cause protein levels to be higher. Some doctors are overly cautious, which is a good thing in pregnancy.
