Q: Help! 8 wks along and only want cheeseburgers. Need some satisfying healthy alternate suggestions!

With my girls it was easy, I wanted fresh fruit. But this pregnancy I want salt and grease. I would really appreciate some healthy alternates that have worked for others so that I can get through this great MS time without gaining a ton of weight.

Thanks in advance!

So as much as I love a great hamburger, turkey burgers are great tasting and bit healthier.

Although high in fat, hamburgers do contain some nutrients beneficial to you and your baby, including iron and protein. Proper preparation is key to enjoying ground meat without risking bacterial illness, however. Opt for the leanest possible ground beef to make your hamburger a little healthier.

Raw or undercooked ground beef may be contaminated with pathogens, including E. coli and salmonella. A type of food poisoning called salmonellosis, caused by contaminated food, is particularly dangerous as it can be transmitted from mother to child. An infant who contracts salmonellosis in the womb may have fever and diarrhea at birth and is at risk for contracting meningitis

Hello, dears hope you are fine and have good health. Your search for some healthy alternates. I recommend the dairy routine as the main thing. It aims to have three or four dairy foods a day. You also should have limits for food like caffeine and fish. Fish is harmful to babies developing the brain. The extra drinking caffeine may cause miscarriage premature birth. I wish you Happy and healthy baby

Hello, women
Congratulation for your pregnancy. I know that salt and grease are very tasty. In this period, you have to eat foods with folic acid, iron, calcium, and protein. I recommended you fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables. The other half will be for whole grains and lean protein. My advice is to see a doctor of nutrition. Keep in your mind that you are only the responsibility for your baby’s health. Good luck

The odd cheeseburger isn't going to damage baby. The important thing is to make sure that baby is getting the nutrients they need. I craved lots of protein in the first few weeks - chicken, bacon, burgers, fish, eggs. (I don't really do cheese!) Then I went off eggs badly. I craved sour things, sweet things. Whatever you do, try to get 5-7 portions of fruit or veg in you each day. Go for brown rice, brown bread, seeds, fish, anything with omega 3, vitamin C,vitamin D. Make your own grilled burgers with gherkins, chopped onion, ketchup and a healthy bun. You can pair them with homemade wedges, coleslaw and salad. One word of caution.... when I was craving burgers, I ordered one from a restaurant. It was pink inside. I ignored it to an extent as I was starving and it tasted amazing, but the middle was properly raw!! A big no-no at any time, but especially when pregnant. Warn any restaurant you are pregnant and cut them in the middle right away to see if they are cooked.
