Hi
For moderate to severe endometriosis where previous treatment has not helped or the woman is done having children, a partial or full hysterectomy may provide permanent relief. After the surgery, your surgeon or specialist will help you determine your chances of getting pregnant based on what they found during the surgery. Women with mild endometriosis will have a much better chance of getting pregnant compared to those with severe endometriosis. Your doctor will also help you determine if there are any other factors that may be affecting your fertility besides endometriosis.

Treatment for endometriosis depends on the severity of a patient's symptoms and whether they have plans for getting pregnant in the future. Medications such as birth control pills and hormone therapies such as Lupron may help reduce the endometriosis and the pain associated with it. If a woman is trying to get pregnant, laparoscopic surgery may be required to evaluate the severity of endometriosis as well as remove any areas that could be affecting her fertility. Neither of these options will cure the endometriosis, only reduce pain and/or provide a better chance for pregnancy.
