Tanner Declan Silver's Birth Story

I had a scheduled induction, one week before Tanner's due date (August 3, 2013). Dr. knew he was going to be a big baby and I have a smaller frame. We were trying to avoid a C-section, if possible. The nurse was surprised to find his hb so high up on my belly so she ordered an u/s to make sure he was in position. I assured her he was and that he was just a big baby but that wasn't good enough for her. She wanted to be sure. I was right. She was getting his hb in his butt and he was definitely in position. He was just very tall. lol Everything was going well until about 5 hours in when Tanner's hb dropped off the monitor and they had a time trying to find it again. They were literally minutes away from an emergency cs. They got internal monitors in and found it, finally but had to stop the Pit until they monitored it for a while. About 2 hours later they started the Pit again and things progressed pretty quick. Once I was dilated to 9 Dr. had me start pushing. After 5 pushes, Tanner was crowning and you could see all his blonde hair! 2 more pushes and his head was out and Doc asked if we had a name for him yet. Dh finally, right at that moment agreed on the name Tanner but we still didn't know what his middle name would be. I yelled out "Thank God, I love you!!!". If you only knew the other names he had picked out! Thank God he agreed to Tanner!! lol 3 more pushes and out he came. Doc handed him to me saying "here's your linebacker!" And when the nurse called out his weight and length, Docs eyes widened and he said in a soft voice..."I am so, so sorry". lol He said he would've taken Tanner cs if he'd known he was going to be over 9 lbs. Tanner broke his collar bone on the way out but it's all healed now. He's nothing short of absolutely perfect! xo
