Leo Richard Morrison's Birth Story

4 days late & still needed some encouragement, I went in Saturday (15th) for a foley cath/slow pit induction. I didn't need the balloon because I was dilated to 3 so they just started the pit. It was a very long night of no sleep, not because of contractions but because the bed was awful & my boy was still swimming so much they couldn't keep a monitor on him. My water was broken at 9:30 am on Sunday and the games began! contractions were pretty hard & heavy by 11:30 am & I was able to get in the tub, they got me out around 1 to check me & I was only at 5 WHAT!!! Back in the tub....the midwives were wonderful and held my hand the entire time, I barely opened my eyes for 2 hours but had to wonder what the others on the floor were thinking when they heard a Wagnerian soprano do a labor drone!! LOL I know the midwives were impressed because they kept discussing it (I could not respond) By 2:30 I was at 8.5 got out of the tub to get ready to push. My little Leo arrived at 3:24pm with a roaring start at 9.13lb!!! Had a small tear & a bit of a HBP scare after the fact but remarkably, my recovery has been easier this time than it was w/ my DD, who was 3lb less & I had an epidural...not gonna lie, it hurt like blazes but totally worth it. (Now if I could just get my nipples to toughen up, they hurt worse than my stitches!!!)
