Alison Jean-Kay Denton's Birth Story
At 10:30 June 29th, I went into labor. By 12 am, the contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes apart so we went to the hospital. I was admitted at 12:30 and was 2 cm dilated. By 3 am I was only at a 3. My labor stalled so they decided at noon to give me a small dose of pitocin. At 3 pm they stopped the pitocin since I was back on track. At 5 cm, the pain was too much so I asked for an epidural. I was so tired and emotional that I had an emotional break down during it and had to be numbed 3 times before it was put in. Unfortunately there was a leak where the tube met my back so I wasn't able to get any of the medication. By 10:14 pm my water broke and it was severely painful. Then I hit the transitional period and I thought I was gonna die. When the doctor came in to check me 5 minutes later, I was fully dilated and needing to push. There was barely enough time to set up. After pushing for 6 minutes through 3 contractions, my little girl was born. She is the most wonderful thing I have seen, besides her brother. All the pain really is worth it in the end. I couldn't be any happier with having her here. <3
