Violet's Birth Story

I was in unrelenting pre labour for 2 days, with irregular contractions every 10-15 min before finally, things started to progress. I wanted to labour at home as long as possible. We went to the hospital at 5pm. I was so tired as i hadn't slept for 2 nights straight, and while i said i wanted an epidural, my husband and doula knew it was definitely not the case. They suggested I try a bath, i tried the shower with gas and air. Then i simply say on a ball with the gas. My contractions felt worse but weren't speeding up so my midwife suggested we break the waters.
I felt the urge to push instantly and tried to stop as I wasn't sure how dialated i was. Once that feeling subsided, they suggested i try emptying my bladder. I sat on the loo, suddenly couldn't hold back the pushing and with 1 contraction my poor baby was nearly born in the toilet! My husband lifted me, the head came out. The midwife rushed in without gloves just in time to catch our baby! Before i could even comprehend what happened, i was standing, holding my baby and my husband had scissors in his hand ready to cut the cord.... it was amazing!! Wish i could have seen our shocked faces.
I was so proud of myself! And our baby was perfect! We are so thrilled and blessed to have her! :)
