Connor's Birth Story
I was admitted to the hospital on March 12 after the bloodflow through the umbilical cord looked bad. In addition to preeclampsia, the baby had IUGR and placental insufficiency. They also suspected a heart anomaly which luckily wasn’t the case. I was on continuous monitoring. The nurse woke me up at 12 A.M. on St. Patrick’s Day saying it was baby time. I wanted to get him to 37 weeks, but his heartrate kept dropping. I was prepped for surgery and throwing up everywhere because I was so nervous. The NICU team was ready, and I at least had time to get an epidural and be awake. My mom was there for the birth because of Coronavirus visitor restrictions. Connor is doing well in the NICU. We’re 5 hours away from home, and my husband is working from home and holding down the fort with our daughters. Taking things day by day! My milk came in on day 3, so I’m pumping what I can. Because baby has an IV in his umbilical cord, I haven’t gotten to hold him yet. I’m so looking forward to our first snuggle <3
