Baby #2! Bumpdate week 7
By niknik86 » Posted Jan. 7, 2016 3:22pm - 627 views - 2 comments

I loved that I did these the last time and looking back on them, so I'm going to try to do as many as a can this pregnancy.
When I look back at my last pregnancy, my week 7 symptoms are almost the same :).

How Far Along? 7 weeks
Size of Baby: blueberry, 1.3 cm
Weight Gain: actually lost 1 kg, so no weight gain yet
Maternity Clothes: no
Stretch marks: no, and was very lucky to not get any on my stomach the first time. Got 2-4 on my boobs, but they are almost invisible, so I don’t really care.
Symptoms: mild cramps, fatigue/exhaustion and dizziness. I literally could sleep all the time, I'm so exhausted! It also does not help that Heidi is teething and she is waking up about 3-10 times a night!
Cravings: nothing.. I have to remember to eat, I don't really have any appetite at the moment
Gender: I don’t really have a preference. It would be fun to have one of each, but a sister for my daughter so close in age, would also be wonderful (plus I could use all her clothes)
Mood: exhausted, but happy!
Nursery: I've only been planning in my head.. Maybe we could have baby #2 in a bassinet for about 3 months, then transfer Heidi into big girl bed (hopefully) and baby #2 gets the crib.
Movement: no
Sleep: Not good because of Heidi
Workouts: nope! and have not been working out at all since my daughter was born! Only going on walks with our dog. I'm so lazy!
What I Miss: having more energy
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Anything making you queasy or sick: food in general
Best Moment This Week: My little girl saying MOM again and again. The cutest thing in the world!
Labor Signs: no
Looking Forward To: my first OB appointment next week and also telling family and friends about the pregnancy at 12 weeks! They are going to have a shock! On the other hand, I’m NOT looking forward to telling my boss!… I’m still on a maternity leave, and this will be the first thing I will have to tell him when I go back to work in February!

Yeah, I will go back to work in February and then work until due date and then I get the same amount of time off (10-12 months). My husband will then probably take paternity leave 4 weeks after birth and then 2-3 months after my leave, before the baby will go in childcare. The same system as we are doing now.
I also still have summer holiday left from last year (about 5 weeks), so I'm hoping I can go on a holiday in July and immediately go on a maternity leave, so I don't have to return to work after the summer holidays.

It is a good system, and allows both parents a quality time with their baby. It's probably just a matter of time when the USA will establish this policy, because a paid leave raises the probability that mothers return to employment later, and after men were offered a paternity leave the gender pay gap have gotten smaller. It is a governmental program, so the employer does not pay the salary while the employee is on a leave.

How will maternity leave work for you? Do you go back after your current leave ends and then work until your due date and then have the same amount of time off? I wish the USA would establish a maternity leave policy. Looking forward to following your pregnancy again! Hopefully I join you back over here soon. :)
