UGH oversupply is a bitch

I never thought I'd say it. I thought it was such a blessing this time around. However, Emma has started having green poop. Apparently this can mean dairy allergies or a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance due to oversupply or not emptying the breast entirely during a feed. Sooooooo, I'm guessing since she didn't/doesn't have green poop all the time or earlier, that she's not allergic, but instead getting too much foremilk. (Either from recent milk or freezer, probably both) Pain in the bum! I'm trying really hard to pump enough for her. Daycare is demanding she have plenty of milk on hand, which I understand. It seems like my strategy, while leading to a less stressed milk producer, may be causing my child some discomfort. Sometimes on the weekends she cries when the milk comes out too fast. Also, the excessive pooping the last couple weeks meant more diaper rashes. Sigh. The best way would be to never pump at all, and always feed my baby by nursing. The second best way, I thought, was pumping. Now, I'm looking forward to solid feeding even more, so I'm not so paranoid about my milk quality. And yes, I do mix up the milk I pump very carefully to ensure the hindmilk is dispersed throughout the bottles. She will survive. My milk supply will eventually settle down. And... Mostly she's happy. Mommy just wants everything to be perfect for her. Tomorrow is her 4 month appointment. I'll probably bring it up with her dr. Dang internet. It is so helpful and not at the same time.

Thanks for the reassurance, Kitten90. It's been much more recent for you than us with our three year old. The dr is unconcerned. There is no blood in her stool and she's gaining well. She said she'd prefer not to interfere with my diet or schedule unless I want to try something on my own to fix the color, so I guess we just leave it. Also, we have a green light to try solid feeding anytime now when Emma shows interest. I'll probably wait a couple weeks until we talk to her specialist, but I'm relieved that soon my milk won't be her only nutrients. She has such sensitive skin, a little less watery poo could really help keep the rashes at bay.

I can't believe it's been 4 months already! Holy, time flies!
Green poop can be from iron levels too. Hopefully you and her doctor will figure out what's up =) My daughter had green poop for a while but was fine once she started eating solids. She was always gaining weight fine so her doc never seemed too concerned about it
